We spent Christmas morning at home with Maria, Lexi and Tiernan, and Lauren. Audrey slept in until 8am so we were all eagerly waiting to open presents. Finally, Josh and I went up and woke her up so we could get started since we had a busy day. Although she was excited to talk about Santa and presents leading up to Christmas, she didn't really seem to care once we came downstairs...she was just excited to see everyone. We got started with stockings and quickly realized this would take a while. Audrey and Tiernan kept wanting to open each little gift and play with it before moving on. We put the stockings away and moved on to the many gifts under the tree. This took a while too, and eventually Audrey was just ripping off the wrapping paper and then moving on to the next gift without even seeing what she got. It was fun watching her and Tiernan open their presents together. Once the gifts were all open they went to town playing with each one and making a big mess!
After we opened presents, we got ready for the day by having a big breakfast of biscuits and gravy and eggs and orange juice. Lexi, Tiernan, and Lauren went to Cheryle's to visit with Grandma Suzie, while we stayed home and Josh's side of the family came over. We exchanged gifts and chatted and ate and drank. It was great! Audrey had a blast being silly with Josh's uncle...
Later in the day, we headed over to Dad and Lisa's to celebrate with my side of the family. We did the same as with Josh's family - exchanged gifts, chatted, ate, and drank!! We attempted to take a nice family photo, but it wasn't so easy.
Baby JJ during all of this was awesome. He mostly just did this:
And some of this:
And of course we made him sit through this:
Christmas 2012 was busy and full of lots of family and fun, but I'm glad the holidays are over. It was hard on me to have to share my little baby with so many other people. It was also hard on me to be up and walking around so much and to not have my naps. I admit I am glad it is just us again and that we can settle down and go about our day as we please. I am already looking forward to next year, though. Audrey will really be able to grasp Santa Claus and JJ will be old enough to start getting fun toys.
We had a great New Year's Eve out to dinner with our friend Brett and her daughter Ellie. We are now a few days into the new year and are hoping this will be the best one yet! I'll update more on our family adjusting to the changes soon...stay tuned!
